The Union of Women’s Associations in Greenland

 

The Union of Women’s Associations in Greenland was founded on June 22nd, 1960. Since then the Union has grown from 42 affiliated local societies to a total of 63 today. At present there are abt. 5000 members.

The object of The Union of Women’s Associations in Greenland is to unite the women of Greenland in mutual help as f. inst. strengthening their interest in politics, utilising own, Greenlandic resources, and urging to a better education of Greenland’s women.

The union also works to preserve traditional Greenlandic needlecraft and help as well as improve family conditions.

All women living in Greenland can become members - both Greenlandic, Danish, and Faeroes.

Men, Children, and other interested persons may join as associate members. The possibility also exists of granting an exemption for active members.
